The NDIS describes Specialist Support Coordination as Level 3 support coordination. It is designed for participants whose support environment is complex and where significant barriers may be making it difficult to put services in place or keep them working.
The work may include understanding risks and barriers, developing a service plan, coordinating providers and helping everyone respond more consistently when circumstances change. This level must be specifically included in your NDIS plan.

Is this the right coordination level?
Specialist Support Coordination is not simply more hours of standard coordination. It is a higher-level response to complexity and significant barriers.
Does it need to be in my plan?
Yes. Level 3 Specialist Support Coordination must be included in your NDIS plan before it can be delivered.
What makes a situation complex?
Every situation is different. Complexity can involve significant barriers, risks, several systems or services, or repeated difficulty establishing consistent support.
Is this the same as Support Coordination?
No. Both help coordinate supports, but Specialist Support Coordination has a higher-level focus on complex barriers and support environments. See our coordination levels guide.

Yes. We welcome an initial enquiry and will confirm the participant's consent and preferences before accessing or sharing personal information.
